Essential Traveler's Tips
Here's some essential information that will help you plan ahead for a perfect vacation.
Bank
BANKS: The Bank of Nova Scotia, Barclays Bank, Belize Bank and CIBC have branches in Provo.

Car Rental
CAR RENTAL: Most of our guests like to rent a car for all or part of their stay in order to explore the island, shop and to enjoy their holiday. To avoid disappointment, you should reserve a vehicle in advance since they may be scarce.

Climate
CLIMATE: Constant easterly breezes keep life comfortable, with the coolest winter months averaging in the mid 70 degrees F to low 80 degrees F and the low 90 degrees F in warm months in the late summer. An average annual rainfall of 40 inches assures us plenty of sunny days.

Currency
CURRENCY: The U.S. dollar. British pounds or Canadian dollar can be exchanged at the local banks. Most merchants accept U.S. dollar traveler's checks or American Express, Discover, MasterCard or Visa credit cards.

Customs/Import
CUSTOMS/IMPORT: Visitors may bring in duty free for their own use one carton of cigarettes or cigars, one bottle of liquor and some perfume. Firearms, controlled drugs and pornography are strictly forbidden.

Dress Code
DRESS CODE: Casual, lightweight clothing. Guests wear swimsuits around the resort in the daytime but swimwear is not appropriate in public places. Topless or nude sunbathing or swimming is also considered inappropriate. In the evenings some restaurants prefer that men wear slacks but jackets are rarely required.

Documents
DOCUMENTS/PASSPORTS: Please refer to this site for the most current information regarding international travel: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_3013.html

Elecetricity
ELECTRICITY: 110-VOLTS/60 CYCLE, suitable for North American appliances.

Language
LANGUAGE: English

Medical Services
MEDICAL SERVICES: A doctor is on call. Medical, dental, optometrist and pharmaceutical services are available.

Pets
PETS: Sorry, we do not permit pets.

Public Safety
PUBLIC SAFETY: While the Turks & Caicos have a very low crime rate, please be prudent just as you would at home. Do not leave valuables in plain sight, unattended, in your vehicles or on the beach. Lock your room doors and do not leave accessible windows open. Should you rent a car please drive on the left and observe the traffic signs.

Shopping
SHOPPING: There is a good variety on the island with supermarkets and liquor stores.

Sun and Skin
SUN AND SKIN: The sun is strong in the Turks & Caicos so please be careful when tanning, particularly at the start of your holiday. Remember to wear and reapply protective sunscreen and to drink plenty of water so that you don't become dehydrated.

Time Zone
TIME ZONE: Eastern Standard Time and Daylight Savings Time, just like New York City.

Water
WATER: The Government water supply meets World Health Organization standards.
